The long-awaited second season of Beau Séjour will start on Sunday 31 January. This season, the series of production company De Mensen for Eén, revolves around a former naval officer (Gene Bervoets) and takes place in Zeebrugge.

Former naval officer Maurice sees his own lifeless body dangling from the mast of his sailboat “Beau Séjour”. He wakes up on the beach hours later, but nobody can see or hear him. He’s dead—apparently, a suicide. What is going on? That his family is glad to be rid of him becomes painfully clear from the harsh, cold reactions of his three daughters (Greet Verstraete, Emilie De Roo, Lize Feryn) and his ex-wife (Katelijne Verbeke) to his death. Maurice starts to investigate his own death. And then he discovers that there are a couple of ‘seers’, people who can still see him and with whom he can talk… but why these people?

The concept of Beau Séjour’s first season remains unchanged: we follow the main character who investigates his own death in order to find out exactly what happened. This season, Maurice wants to know why he is still wandering around after his death. Is he here for a reason? Does he have unfinished business? The story takes place in a completely new arena with new characters and a different storyline. The crime scene is still called Beau Séjour, only now it’s not the name of a hotel but of a sailing boat.

Besides Gene Bervoets, Lize Feryn, Emilie De Roo, Katelijne Verbeke and Greet Verstraete, the mainly West-Flemish cast includes Tom Vermeir, Sam Louwyck, Titus De Voogdt and Janne Desmet. The script is written by Sanne Nuyens (Hotel Beau Séjour, The Twelve) and Roel Mondelaers (Cub, Plan Bart), based on an idea by Bert Van Dael (Hotel Beau Séjour, De Twelve). And just like in the first season, the directors are Nathalie Basteyns (Façades, The Out-Laws) and Kaat Beels (Tabula Rasa, Façades, The Out-Laws).

The second season of Beau Séjour is a moving whodunit with a twist. The series by De Mensen for Eén, is a co-production with Column Film and Gardner and Domm, with the support of the VAF/Media Fund, the Creative Europe – MEDIA Programme of the European Union, The Netherlands Film Production Incentive and the Tax Shelter measure of the Federal Government, and with the cooperation of City Film Office Visit Bruges of the City of Bruges and the Belgian Navy.
